The NEW LIFE initiative promotes the sustainable utilisation of end-of-life tyres (ELT) for durable, climate-friendly products in the building and construction industry. The recycled rubber granulate from used tyres is a high-quality secondary raw material for the production of attractive, environmentally friendly solutions for future-oriented building construction, as well as for ecological refurbishment and renovation. On terraces, balconies, playgrounds and sports fields, the elastic, customisable floors protect against injuries and ensure safe movement. Building protection mats made of ELT rubber recyclate ensure the secure positioning of photovoltaic systems on the roof and protect the waterproofing of green roofs from damage. At the same time, they are extremely robust and resilient. The recycled products are flame-retardant and resistant to flying sparks and radiant heat. The permanently elastic mats are drainage-capable and have a high resilience for high loads. They are also being used by more and more architects on flat roofs, walkways and maintenance paths, in multi-storey car parks or on terraces.
