German Sustainability Action Days: NEW LIFE initiative provides information on recycled products made from used tyres in Berlin
Willich, 14.09.2021 From 20 to 26 September, the nationwide German Sustainability Action Days will take place. The NEW LIFE initiative, which is committed to promoting products made from recycled tyres, will be represented with an information stand at Berlin Central Station and will present the diverse possibilities of ELT (end-of-life tyres) made from used tyres.
During the Sustainability Days, many organisations present their projects for a sustainable future. With the campaign at Berlin's main railway station, the NEW LIFE initiative wants to draw attention to the topic of sustainability and motivate more people to act consciously and conserve resources. The NEW LIFE initiative's stand will provide comprehensive information on the wide range of applications for ELT materials. Rubber powder and rubber granulate from old tyres are used to produce sustainable products such as sports pitches, safety surfaces for children's playgrounds, stable mats, sealing compounds, rubber asphalt, artificial turf, vases, soft paving stones, noise barriers and playground accessories. The initiative aims to encourage a rethink and raise awareness of the benefits of these new products made from secondary raw materials for people and the environment. Because regardless of whether they are private individuals, schools, kindergartens, municipalities, authorities, politicians, companies, associations or clubs - everyone can make a contribution to environmental protection by increasing the use of secondary raw materials and reducing CO2 emissions and waste.
Strengthening the circular economy with ELT material
NEW LIFE is an association of various companies, some of which have been involved in tyre recycling for decades. Around 570,000 tonnes are generated in Germany every year. On average, every German citizen - whether big or small, car driver, cyclist or pedestrian - generates one used tyre per year. This includes not only tyres from private cars, but also tyres on buses, trucks, tractors, vans and construction vehicles.
The partners in the NEW LIFE initiative have set themselves the task of reusing this mass of used tyres in the interests of the circular economy. The companies in NEW LIFE produce new, long-lasting products from ELT material. For the future of the planet and nature, it makes sense to use the components from used tyres as often and for as long as possible. The NEW LIFE initiative is committed to this multiple use.
