1,001 ideas for the green, liveable city of tomorrow: a magical film journey into our urban future

1001 ideas for the city of the future

How can cities be made sustainably climate-friendly for the future? How can waste, CO2 emissions and noise be reduced? How can people and animals, nature and technology live together in harmony? With the new animated film "1,001 Ideas for the City of the Future", NEW LIFE takes viewers on an imaginative journey into a climate-positive, green vision of the urban centres of tomorrow. The heroine of the film is a good tyre fairy who performs recycling magic with her magic wand. As she flies by, desolate urban spaces are transformed into attractive, liveable playgrounds, roof gardens, streets and gardens. The secret of the tyre fairy, for whom a name is still being sought in a competition: sustainable products made from climate-friendly recycled tyre rubber granulate. Have fun watching!

The storyline of the almost five-minute film is a reading from a lovingly designed storybook: "1,001 ideas for the city of the future" - a magical guide to sustainable urban planning of the future. After a good tyre fairy has transformed a pile of old tyres into pure rubber granulate with the recycling magic of her magic wand, she takes off on a sightseeing flight through the city to bring it back to life - with less noise and better air. As she flies by, desolate playgrounds, sports facilities, building roofs, streets, flats, terraces, gardens and squares are magically transformed into attractive, liveable urban spaces with recycled products made from tyre rubber granulate.

Scene by scene: urban sustainability that inspires

At the film's fairytale ending, the good tyre fairy closes the book of fairy tales from which she draws her inspiration. The book dissolves in a shower of stars and transforms into the silhouette of a city of tomorrow. The most important effects of sustainable recycled products made from tyre rubber granulate for sustainable and future-oriented urban development are shown in front of it:

  • Climate-ready for the future
  • Higher urban quality of life
  • Less waste, more biodiversity
  • Less CO2, better air
  • Less noise, more protection

The fairy tale can become reality in our cities

The fairytale-like staging of the tyre fairy meets real, climate-friendly products made from recycled tyre rubber granulate - making sustainability not only visible, but tangible. The film focuses on the wide range of applications for rubber granulate products in urban development, horticulture, landscaping and sports facility construction. The spectrum ranges from elastic fall protection surfaces for children's playgrounds and sustainable building protection for green flat roofs with PV systems to noise protection and rubber-modified asphalt.

The products made from tyre rubber granulate are not only ecologically but also economically impressive: they are low-maintenance, durable and consist of up to 95% recycled material - including short transport routes. Dedicated NEW LIFE partners are involved in the closed recycling loop - from the collection and sorting of used tyres to climate-friendly mechanical recycling and the finished product. The initiative was honoured with the prestigious GREEN GOOD DESIGN SUSTAINABILITY AWARD in 2024 for this sustainable commitment.

Name competition: What should the good tyre fairy be called?

She floats through the film like a glimmer of hope - the good tyre fairy who transforms desolate places into lively oases of well-being with her recycling magic. But although she has already done so much good, she is still missing something crucial: a name! Creativity, heart and imagination are now required. The NEW LIFE initiative is calling on all urban dreamers, big and small, recycling fans and future thinkers to give the tyre fairy their name. Whether playful, powerful, modern or fairytale - we are looking for a name that fits her like a magic wand in her hand. The best suggestion will be chosen from all the entries - and will become part of our mission for a greener, fairer and more liveable city of tomorrow.

The EUROFLEX® turtle has found its way from the vastness of the oceans to playgrounds and parks, where it impresses with its colourful appearance. The basic body is a hemisphere. This has recesses for attachments, which represent the head, limbs and the points of the shell. Thanks to this stable construction, the turtle (diameter of the base body 700 mm) is also ideal for playing and as a seat.
