The NEW LIFE initiative has joined the used tyre recycling innovation forum, AZuR. AZuR stands for Aalliance Zfuture Rtyres. The initiative is thus actively involved in the network that is developing ways and solutions for an ecologically and economically sensible tyre cycle. In addition to initiatives such as NEW LIFE and the ZARE initiative (certified waste tyre disposal companies) are the associations Trade Association of the German Rubber Industry (wdk) and German Tyre Retail and Vulcanisation Trade Association (BRV) as well as material recyclers, road construction companies, certified waste tyre disposal companies, thermal recyclers and companies that carry out pyrolysis, research/science, retreading and material production, industry and associations from the fields of nature and the environment are partners of the Innovation Forum.
While the initiatives and associations within the network bundle and concentrate the goals, wishes and concerns of their members, the individual groups deal intensively on a daily basis with the topic of used tyre disposal and the recycling loop, which should ideally be completely closed. The second life of every used tyre begins at the certified used tyre disposal companies, retreading companies ensure that tyres can be reconditioned and reused, and material recyclers manufacture completely new products from ELT granulate. Other companies in the AZuR network specialise in pyrolysis, a type of chemical recycling of used tyres, while industrial companies are involved in the production of the necessary tyre components. Research and science are drivers of innovation and can open up ways to completely close the tyre loop. Environmental organisations and politicians, in turn, provide the necessary impetus for the sustainable use of resources.
