Umweltwirtschaftspreis.NRW, used tyre recycling, rubber recycling and circular economy

"REGUPOL BSW manufactures almost all of its products from between 75 and 95 per cent recycled polymer raw materials. This means that the company makes a major contribution to the sustainable use of natural resources," says NRW Environment Minister Ursula Heinen-Esser, describing the reason for the award to the medium-sized company from Bad Berleburg.

Together with NRW.BANK, the NRW Ministry of the Environment honours companies that excellently combine ecological innovation and economic success. The Umweltwirtschaftspreis.NRW was awarded for the first time in 2020 and 80 companies with sustainable solutions applied in the very first year.
The award ceremony was held digitally as part of #SUMMIT2020 Umweltwirtschaft NRW. The three winners, who came out on top among the 10 nominated companies, will receive prize money totalling 60,000 euros.
First place went to the Düsseldorf-based biotechnology company NUMAFERM GmbH. Second place went to 2G Energy AG from Heek in the Borken district.
Eckhard Forst, Chairman of the Managing Board of NRW.BANK, was also enthusiastic about REGUPOL BSW: "REGUPOL BSW has proven for decades that the sustainable production of sports floors from recycled material is not only a success for the environment, but also for the company in particular, and is therefore rightly one of the first winners of the NRW Environmental Business Award."
With the new Environmental Business Award.NRW, the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Environment and NRW.BANK want to further expand North Rhine-Westphalia's pioneering role in the environmental economy and promote innovative ideas for the future. The jury included high-ranking representatives from politics, business, science and associations.
