"I am a circle runner!": Assembly on 6 October 2025 in Berlin

I am a circle runner

The Alliance Future Tyres (AZuR) and the NEW LIFE initiative are organising a high-profile rally at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin as part of the German Sustainability Action Days. The motto of the campaign: "I am a circle runner!" The event, organised together with ZARE, will take place on Monday, 6 October 2025, from 11:00 to 15:00, at the corner of Ebertstraße and Straße des 17. We look forward to your visit.

Over 44 million used tyres are produced in Germany every year - of which far too many are unfortunately still recycled thermally or disposed of illegally. Used tyres (and the secondary raw materials they contain) should be kept on the road for as long as possible and then recycled. AZuR and its partners will be demonstrating in Berlin how tyres can be kept in the cycle:

  • through retreading,
  • through mechanical recycling into durable products such as fall protection surfaces, roofing systems or rubber-modified asphalt,
  • or through innovative chemical processes such as pyrolysis.

"Tyres are not waste, but a secondary raw material store with potential. Our aim is to make this potential visible and bring it to the centre of society and politics," says Anna-Maria Guth, AZuR Network Coordinator.

The event in Berlin offers visitors an insight into practical applications: used tyres to touch, recycled products, information material and technical discussions with experts convey the opportunities of the circular economy. Practical examples will show how sustainable used tyre recycling is already working today.

The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of the circular tyre economy and at the same time make it clear: The circular economy must become part of the political agenda in order to achieve sustainability and climate targets.
