Around 200 pupils and trainees accepted the invitation to the NEW LIFE Climate School Day on 26 October at FSB 2023 to find out about environmental protection, sustainability and climate-friendly recycling products in person.
The highlight of the school day was a climate protection forum in the Europasaal of the Congress-Centrum Ost, which was attended by over 120 pupils and trainees. After a presentation by the NEW LIFE initiative and its partners, which focused on the ecological benefits of recycling used tyres, the renowned climate researcher Prof. Dr Peter Wiesen (Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Wuppertal) gave a presentation on climate change that was suitable for pupils.
On an experience course at the NEW LIFE stand, schoolchildren, trainees and international trade fair visitors were able to discover the variety of high-quality recycled products made from tyre rubber granulate for playgrounds, sports facilities, stables, etc. at first hand. 17 different floor tiles made from sustainable rubber granulate - from impact protection surfaces to artificial turf mats and interlocking paving - could be discovered step by step.
In order to sensitise future generations to the importance of environmental protection, climate protection, sustainability and recycling (products), NEW LIFE has set up a free learning portal for gardening and landscaping schools and training companies, which was presented live at FSB.
