Cities and local authorities can actively support the transition from a throwaway society to a circular economy. The use of sustainable secondary raw materials such as recycled tyres (ELT) is very important here. To this end, NEW LIFE is organising an ELT sustainability competition. Municipalities with up to 40,000 inhabitants can compete for 10,000 euros in prize money until 15 September 2022.
Recycled rubber granulate and rubber powder (ELT) is an excellent material for municipal construction projects and infrastructure development. ELT material is robust, elastic, extremely weather-resistant and easy to work with. The rubber modification of asphalt, for example, improves the quality of the road surface, making it more resilient and durable. This means that roads need to be repaired or renewed less frequently.
