Educational film: Recycling products for house and roof

We have prepared a short film to introduce the topic and raise pupils' awareness of the potential uses of sustainable recycled products made from tyre rubber granulate on roofs, roof terraces and walls. The film also presents selected possible uses for the roofing trade. There are numerous other areas of application for the weatherproof, customisable recycled products, which can be explored and discussed together in the course of the lesson.

Practical workshop: Laying rubber granulate paving

There is a wide selection of attractive paving stones made from pure rubber granulate, which can be used to decorate paths, patios, driveways, roof terraces or maintenance paths on the roof. The paving stones are available in different shapes, colours, sizes and thicknesses - optionally with integrated fall protection up to three metres high. The rustic look is indistinguishable from real stone.

A paving made of recycled rubber granulate is sound-absorbing, insulating and provides a pleasant, sure-footed surface to walk on. The individual elements interlock perfectly, ensuring a high level of positional stability. Kerbstones can be cut quickly and flexibly using a carpet cutter.

How easy it is to lay the visually appealing, durable and low-maintenance paving stones, even on asymmetrical surfaces, is demonstrated in a short film using the example of a design plaster.

Practical excursion: Weed protection on the green roof

The removal of wild plants and grasses on roofs, flat roofs and green roofs is also one of the tasks of a roofer. Removing wild plants from joints, gaps, roof edges or gutters is time-consuming, and weeds that have been flattened or plucked out are often back again after a short time.

This is why many roofers are now turning to weed films as an environmentally friendly, noiseless and effective long-term method of weed control. Weed protection mats made from recycled rubber granulate are ideal for protecting roots and weeds on flat roofs.

The approx. 1 to 2 mm thick rubber mats are water-permeable, can be laid endlessly, are very durable and cost-effective. Rubber weed protection mats are also environmentally friendly and toxicologically harmless. They improve the roofing company's carbon footprint and are fully recyclable.

Educational game: TOP 10 weeds of Germany

Weeds present roofers with a challenge when installing roof terraces and green roofs. The rapidly spreading plants rob neighbouring plants of light, water and valuable nutrients. There are weeds on German roof terraces, balconies and roof gardens that are more persistent than others. These ten weeds should therefore be kept an eye on even as small plants and combated right from the start. We have compiled a list of ten of the most common weeds in Germany.

Task: The pupils have to find out the names of the TOP 10 weeds using photos and short descriptions and enter them in the list. You can call up the TOP 10 overview on screen or download, print and distribute it.
