A circular economy aims to utilise products and raw materials for as long as possible. In practical terms, this means avoiding waste in the roofing trade by reusing and repairing existing products. If this is not possible, they are broken down again into their starting materials, i.e. raw materials. New (recycled) products for roofs, terraces and balconies can then be manufactured from them.
We have prepared a short film to introduce the topic and raise students' awareness of the importance of a functioning circular economy in the roofing trade for the environment and climate. This can be followed by a short discussion on the importance and benefits of a sustainable circular economy.

An important positive effect of a sustainable circular economy is the reduction of climate-damaging CO2 emissions. In Germany, each person produces an average of 12.5 tonnes of CO2 per year. If we want to protect the environment and climate for future generations, CO2 emissions should be reduced to 2 tonnes per person per year.
To make pupils aware of how many CO2 emissions they cause every day, both privately and professionally, we ask them (individually, in small groups or as a class) to calculate their personal CO2 footprint. In a quiz, pupils can once again engage with the topic of the circular economy in a fun way. There are four alternative answers to each question, at least one of which must be correct. The quiz can be played with the whole class in small groups or by each pupil individually. The correct solution should be discussed briefly afterwards.

To better convey the lesson content in class, you can free of charge and without obligation request a sample pack with material samples, information brochures and demo products.
