Recycling involves collecting raw materials from waste and used products, processing them and using them to manufacture new products. This keeps valuable raw materials in the economic cycle. This avoids waste, conserves natural resources and contributes to environmental protection. Recycling is also becoming increasingly important in landscaping.
We have prepared a short film to introduce the topic and raise pupils' awareness of the importance of recycling in landscaping. This can be followed by a short discussion with the class on the importance of recycling and recycled products.

The current trend is to make new garden objects yourself from used items and recycled materials. When things are given a second life, resources are conserved because the materials do not have to be manufactured again.
Whether it's seating areas made from old pallets, tables made from discarded barrels or shelves made from old wine crates. There are numerous other ways to design gardens with objects made from recycled materials. There are no limits to your own imagination. In small groups or as a class, pupils collect ideas for garden objects made from recycled materials.
After the pupils have familiarised themselves with the topic of recycling, the knowledge they have acquired so far can be deepened and expanded in a fun way. For this purpose, we have prepared a crossword puzzle (with the kind support of the Remondis recycling experts).
In a quiz, pupils can once again engage with the topic of recycling in a fun way. There are four alternative answers to each question, at least one of which must be correct. The quiz can be played with the whole class in small groups or by each pupil individually. The correct solution should be discussed briefly afterwards.

In an optional excursion, you can ask the students to photograph examples of garden objects and landscaping products made from recycled materials over the next week - at home at school and at the training company.
Pupils can post their photos on Instagram with the hashtag #newlifemachtschule. A selection of the best photos will be published on the Instagram page of NEW LIFE makes school. An exhibition in the school with a selection of the best photos is also conceivable.
